We just had new doors installed (by "pros") a few days ago. I was changing the locks, and discovered the bolt pocket did not meet the minimum 1-inch depth. It was 3/4-inch. So, I thought, "what difference does it make?" And then I found out! I was able to shimmy the bolt open from the outside in about 30 seconds with a screwdriver to walk it and a pin punch to hold it in position as I reapplied the screwdriver. Holy crap! I just drilled the pocket deeper, and now I can't "jimmy" the door open! How many homeowners have NO IDEA that their security is so compromised?!??
